We are now proud to say we are part of the kennel club Accredited breeder
scheme!
Welcome to Zola's pregnancy diary hope you enjoy
The 11 puppies were born on 12th October 2008, 10 perfect ridges
and 1 short ridge we lost 1 puppy on the 13th October when Zola accidently lay on on him and suffocated
him. The other 10 puppies are were fine, 10 good ridges, no excess white, no kinky tails and they were checked for sinus
which at the time was not detected in any of the puppies. Unfortunatly we found a sinus in one of the little girls Ola
at 5 and half weeks old. Obviously we were very upset about as it is the first time we have experienced this in any of
our litters. Ola is not in any pain and may be operated on at 8 weeks to possibly remove the sinus,we feel
we have to give her a chance. We are all keeping our fingers crossed for our wee girl. All the other puppies are free
of dermiod Sinus.
I am happy to report that Ola successfully went through her operation
to remove her Dermoid Sinus. The sinus did not communicate with the spinal chord therefore could be completely removed,
she will live a happy normal life with her new owners once her wound has healed, she will be speyed as soon as she is
old enough. When I went to collect her at the vets her little tail was wagging like mad, she then came home and ate a
full meal you just can't keep a good dog down!

Puppies 4 half to 5 weeks: The puppies are now growing by the minute
and eating by the bucket load! They are very contented little puppies who love nothing more than to be played with and cuddled. Zola
is now very relaxed with the other dogs playing with her puppies. She has been showing them off proudly to anyone who
visits, although she forgets when she sits on peoples knees she is a bit heavier than a puppy!

Two weeks old today 26th October 2008: The puppies are now two weeks
old, they are growing fast and all their eyes are now open. They had their first dose of wormer today (that was
fun!)and have all had their little nails trimmed. The puppies are all very contented and quiet between feeds
so Zola is still doing a great feeding them all herself. Some of them have started to come off the bed to do the toilet on
the news papers. Already the puppies have started to form their own little characters.

1 week old today 19th October 2008: The puppies are now one week old
and have all doubled in weight and Zola has done it all herself! They continue to grow by the day.
Day 5 17th October: The puppies are growing fast and Zola is still
managing to feed them herself with no help from us. We always give our puppies pet names to give them an identity whilst
they are with us. The girls are Ola, Krissy, Missy, Lily and Tulip. The boys are Toto, Dash, 007, Moobs and Bear.

One little fat puppy day 4

10 little fat puppies day 4
|
Day 3 14th October 2008: After losing one of the little men yesterday
we were all a bit down, however we have to think and concentrate on Zola and her other ten little bundles. Day 3 and Zola
is doing fantastic, all the puppies are getting little fat tummies and Zola is doing it all herself with no need for
us to top up the puppies with extra milk. Zola is enjoying lots goodies, rice pudding, chicken, pasta, her usual dog
food and lactol milk! she is eating well and resting with her puppies. We introduced Namdi and Mera last night, they had a
little peak in the box under the eagle eye of Zola, Mera took one look at her mum and decided not to push things and lay down
(getting the whole couch to herself was much more exciting than getting her face chomped), Namdi, well you know Namdi, he
took a couple of death stares and a huge toothy grin from Zola before he moved is booty to his beanbag. Little Rosie
has been there all the time and does not bother even having a look! The cats have balanced nicely on the edge of the box,
Zola doesn't seem to mind them, she probably knows they would not taste very nice.

Day 3 Zola and her ten puppies.

|
Day 63 12th October 2008: What a day! After a
few days of Zola making an effort to go into labour I decided to take her to the vets for a little check up as her labour
never seemed to progress. After examination it appeared that Zola's womb was quite stretched and therefore unable to contract
properly. The decision was made not to leave Zola any longer as the could be detrimental to both herself and the puppies,
therefore the decision to give her a c section was made. At approximatly 3.45pm the puppies were removed fast and furiously
one after the other, myself, my daughter Sarah and vet nurses Carol and Susan all worked to make sure all the puppies airways
were clear of fluid, whilst vet Kay worked on Zola. There were puppies everywhere 7 in the first horn and 4 in the other.
All the puppies pulled through and were a very healthy weight for such a large litter. After a huge panic all puppies
were tucked up in a basket and trying to escape looking for mummy! When our wee Zola came round we were there to support
her and before long she was up on her feet heading for the door. Once home Zola took a few minutes to work out that
these were infact her puppies and headed for her couch, we had to encourage her to get back into her box and then the penny
dropped and since then she has licked and cleaned and fed every puppy. Zola was speyed whilst under to save her being
opened up again at a later date. I must say a huge thanks to Vet Kay and vet nurses Susan and Carol who were fantastic
and very compassionate!
Puppies day 1: The puppies a few hours old, well done
Zola and Maalik for producing such a gorgeous litter.

| Day 61 and looking very fat |

|
Day 61 10th October: Is it a cow? Is it a
whale? Is it a burst couch? No its Zola (sorry Zola) today Zola has been huffing and puffing, going in and out of her welping
box and ripping papers etc, so I think she will be having her puppies very soon! I have to add I have been sleeping on the
sofa all week as she has been acting odd! She (so am I) is very sleepy and catching up on her rest (she won't let me) not
long now all you patiently waiting mums and dads. catch up soon

Day 50 A very swell (still 13 days of growing to go) Zola sniffing
around her new whelping box!
|

Day 50 Zola making herself at home in her new whelping box with the
help of a chew!
|
Day 50 29th September: Zola's whelping
box went up today, she is growing by the minute,. She is still going out for little walks but she has slowed down.
She is resting lots and very clingy, her puppies can now be felt moving around. Mera is constantly cleaning her mum's tummy
and lying with her head on Zola. Namdi is getting his head chewed off and she, as usual ignores little Rosie! We are getting
so excited and can't wait 13 days to go (maybe).

|
| Day 44 looking swell |
Day 44 September 23rd 2008 Zola is growing
by the minute, she is very contented and looking fantastic (although rather large). She is still enjoying her walks,
however resting lots guess where? yes on HER couch! felt very light movement from the little ones today. So excited
not long to go now.
Day 31 September 10th 2008 Zola was scanned today
and we are pleased to announce that she is having puppies!!!!!!! so all the finger crossing worked folks!!!!! Zola is looking
fab and she is being totally spoilt (some things never change). She is still running around like a spring chicken but
also sleeping lots. We are all so excited and cannot wait..... photo's to follow soon. I am sure Mera is pleased to
hear this news on her 2nd birthday!
Day 14 August 24th 2008: Still at the waiting stage
but Zola has a dreamy look in her eyes and is resting lots and grumpy with Namdi No! (his new name), she is showing signs
but won't get to excited until confirmed!
DAY 2: 11th August: Set off to Gillians early in the morning as Gillian was going to the world congress.
On arrival there was no messing around Maalik found a very very willing Zola and another mating to place! We left Gillians
and back to the B&B to give Zola a well earned rest.
DAY 1 10th August 2008: It all began on the 28th
of July, Zola came into season almost 2 months late! An email to Gillian was sent, On previous seasons Zola is always ready
around the 9th or 10th day but oh no! this time Zola waits until the day before Gillian sets off to Ireland for the world
congress. Anyway Sunday 10th August off Me and Zola went to Yorkshire, we arrived at our pre-booked B&B and low and
behold the woman had not checked her interent (the way we booked) and did not know we were arriving, however she was very
nice and asked if we could come back later, not a problem so off to Gillian's we went!. At Gillians Zola met the
very tall, the very dark and the very hansome Maalik, all went well and they fell in love! after a lot of flirting Zola
and Maalik had their first mating! then off back to the B&B we went it turned out to be very nice and very clean thank
goodness! (after helping attach Gillians new roof box to her car.
